This Bedouin man was standing at the foot of a Pyramid beside his camel that was loaded with two water jugs. From 7 am to 6 pm he earned his living by carrying water from a village near the Pyramids to a summering place for wealthy Cairenes. The cabins did not have electricity or running water because they were in the antiquities area. On the cabin roofs were water tanks that the vendor filled from his jugs. Gravity created water pressure that enabled the owners to have “running water.”
